Brave New Bus Winter 2008 Video (Hi-Def)

At the time of the trip we kept throwing around the slogan "Reinvigorating the American Spirit". Adventure, ingenuity, skepticism, bravery, defiance, entrepreneurship, experimentation, hope, determination. These are the elements that fueled the trip. 7 of us gambled on a 22 year old school bus modified to run on dirty cooking oil by a couple of unqualified mechanics. We were set on seeing our country in all its glory. From the spirit of New Orleans on a New Year's Eve to the beauty of a desolate Texas to the gorgeous Pacific coast, a new found appreciation for our country was to be had. 2 1/2 weeks and 3,000 miles later we'd be able to tell a story of adventure for the rest of our lives.

True Calling - The Making Of...(Hi-Def)

There was a short film contest put on by Youtube, Sundance and Moviefone called Project: Direct. The guidelines for entry was under 5 minutes in length and must include a red telephone plus two other props from a list of notable props from past Sundance entries. We took the red phone and made it a metaphor for an individual's "True Calling".

We found out about this contest 4 days before the deadline and decided that we were going to do it. The thing that made all of this truly interesting was that we would be in a different state each night. We were on a mission to make an annual super-holiday-party in the form of a Brooklyn Pierce & Pierce Christmas party. WE was Michael Hoy, Kathryn Loder, Winston Hoy and joined by Michelle Freeman. WE were on a mission.

The idea was that we would write an outlined story and then fit our random events on the 3,000 mile adventure into every aspect of the story. The plan sounded like it'd work, but it's really quite a challenge when you find yourself in a different bed every night. I ended up putting this video together to mock ourselves and to remember the trip by. I hope you all enjoy it and will forgive me for not entering it into the contest. Although I finished the editing before the deadline, the video wasn't able to uploaded on our 1,500 mile rideshare home.
